Directors Note
I’m very privileged to have this opportunity to helm another show steeped in science, especially one that unabashedly shows the structural challenges that women in science have faced. Having myself been on the receiving end of misogynistic behavior nearly 100 years after the events shown here, it resonates with me how the strong friendship and professional respect that Hertha Ayrton and Marie Curie had for each other can serve as a lifeline in more ways than one. It has been my very great privilege to work with this talented, thoughtful, and creative group of theatre artists. Collaboration–in the arts as well as the sciences–is the most rewarding way to work.
Meet the Cast

Hannah Lewis she/they (Marie Curie) is a sophomore theatre major and is thrilled to be working on another fantastic show here at Heidelberg. She has absolutely adored working with everyone on this production and is excited to be a part of its debut. Hannah also has appeared in various productions on the Heidelberg stage including Assassin's, Measure for Measure, and Godspell. She will also be in the upcoming production of Sweet Delilah Swim Club! She has also worked as props, dramaturg, stage management and assistant set design on various productions since coming to Heidelberg and has loved the opportunity to work on both sides. Hannah is so thankful for this opportunity and wants to thank Dr. Amy Berger and Sydney Mendez for all their help throughout the process. She also wants to thank Sarah Jewell for being an amazing castmate and partner throughout this production. She hopes you enjoy the show as much as she has enjoyed working on it!

Sarah Jewell she/her (Hertha) is so excited to get back in the Black Box! She is a junior Music Education major with a theatre minor. Sarah has previously performed in Assassins (Balladeer), Fiorello! (Dora) and Spongebob (Sandy Cheeks), among other shows. Sarah also participates in the Heidelberg Concert Choir, the Chamber Singers, Studio2Stage, HNMA and the Heidelberg Marching Band. She would like to dedicate this show to her mom, as she always supports her.
About the Director
Dr. Amy Berger is a faculty member in the Department of Biological and Environmental Sciences who, upon starting at Heidelberg, discovered a surprisingly acute passion for making theatre. In addition to appearing in Heidelberg productions (Midsummer Night’s Dream, Curious Incident of the Dog in the Nighttime), she is also an active member of the Ritz Players in Tiffin (The Man Who Came To Dinner, Moon over Buffalo, The Play That Goes Wrong) and the Fort Findlay Playhouse (Murder on the Orient Express, Angel Street, Mousetrap).
